　ニュージャージー日米協会に招待され、ニュージャージー州イングルウッドでコンサートがありました。今回はドラマーのゆたかがカナダにツアーに行ってしまって欠席していたので、ミュージシャン４人と、久々に書家の早苗さんとのコラボでコンサートをしました。

Wafoo was invited by Japanese-American Society of New Jersey and played a concert in Englewood, New Jersey. We were missing Yutaka the drummer because he was on tour to Canada. We did this concert with four of us and our calligrapher Sanae came back on stage after a long time.

Sending Yutaka off to Canada

　ドラマーのゆたかは結構な売れっ子なので、この日もカナダ・ツアーに行く彼をニューワーク空港まで送って行きました。ちなみにこれ朝の６時ぐらいで、家を５時過ぎに出ました。私、昼の１２時前に起きないのに…………

Our drummer Yutaka is much in demand among all kinds of bands in everywhere in the world. I took him to Newark airport and he flew over to Canada. By the way, it was about 6am at the airport and I left home about 5am. I never get up before 12pm.

　朝も早よからドラマーのゆたかをニューワーク空港まで送ってきました。彼はこれからとっても楽しいヨーロッパツアーに出かけます。WaFooの仲間を置き去りにして。

I took Yutaka the drummer to the Newark Airport very early in the morning. He is leaving for a extremely-fun European tour ---- leaving his bandmates of WaFoo in here.

　ここは毎週土曜にゆうきちゃん、岳史さん、一雄さんの３人でギグをしている場所なのですが、この日はリハも兼ねて、私も混ぜてもらい、ギターのエイジさんも応援に来てくれました。

Three of the members of WaFoo --- Yuuki, Takeshi & Kazuo --- have a regular gig at this venue, and I and our friend Eiji the guitarist joined them for this one.

The concert @ Queens Library is POSTPONED

Hello all,

We deeply apologize but the concert at the Queens Library on May 13th (Wed) is POSTPONED. The concert will be rescheduled and the new date and the time will be announced soon.

Our next performance as a full band will be at Crown Plaza Hotel Englewood on June 24th (Wed) and at Alor Cafe on June 25th (Thu). The details are on WaFoo's website.

We are terribly sorry for this last minute notice. We will do our best not to let this happen again.

　申し訳ありません。突然ではありますが、今週の水曜（５／１３）にやる予定だったクイーンズ図書館でのコンサートが延期になりました。新しい日時が決定し次第、追ってホームページ上にてお知らせいたします。

　次のWaFooのフルバンドでのコンサートはクラウン・プラザ・ホテル・イングルウッド（６／２４）、そしてアロア・カフェ（６／２５）になります。詳細はWaFooのホームページをご覧ください。

　コンサートの前々日になって延期のお知らせをする事になってしまい、皆様、本当に申し訳ありません。今後はこのような事がないように全力を尽くします。

Holy Child Church in Staten Island, NY

　スタッテン島にあるホーリー・チャイルド・チャーチでギグがございました。ここで演奏するのは２回目です。前回同様、ありがたい事に大盛況でした。ちなみに上の写真で私、一平が持っているのは今回のギグから正式採用になった沖縄の民族楽器、三線（さんしん）です。

　ギグの後に伊藤園さんの提供によるお茶の試飲会が行われました。詳しくは下のリンクの写真をご覧くださいませ。

We had a concert at the Holy Child Church in Staten Island, NY. It was the second time to perform at the church and, same as the first time, we had so much kind applause from the audience. Thanks to everyone who came to the concert. We also had the tea tasting party. The tea was provided by Ito-en. I put all the photos on another site. By the way, the string instrument I am holding on the top photo is the traditional Okinawan instrument called Sanshin. This instrument has very particular sound which includes lots of "buzzing sound," or as the guitarists call "fret noise" which all guitarists including myself are trying to eliminate as much as possible. I am going to use it on every WaFoo's concert from this day forward.

Takeshi's Birthday

　ウチのキーボーディストの岳史さんの誕生日です。リハーサルの後に近くのステーキハウスに行ってお祝いしました。

It was the birthday of our keyboardist Takeshi. All the band members went to a steakhouse and celebrate after the rehearsal.

Rehearsal

　リハーサルでございます。一見、なんの変哲もない、いつもの愉快なリハーサル風景ですが、皆様、お気づきでしょうか。キーボードの岳史さん、ベースの一雄さんがギターを弾き、私、一平はベースを弾いております。不思議と楽器をいくつも弾ける人が集まったWaFooですが、『何か楽器を変えてできる曲があったら面白いねー』という話になり、ちょっと練習しているところでございます。

It looks like just another fun rehearsal with WaFoo but Takeshi the keyboardist and Kazuo the bassist are playing the guitars and I, Ippei the percussionist is playing the bass. We did not intend but everyone in WaFoo is happened to be a multi-instrumentalist, so we thought it would be cool to switch instruments and play a tune or two.
